Later in the episode, they ended up back at the house together so Charlie could show her his math. :-P When Alan and Larry saw them together, they looked ready to start naming the grandchildren. I always wanted to write them, but recently I found out that the good Officer was played by my current girl-crush, Christina Cox--and I HAD to.

"I'm sorry about Dad and Larry," Charlie apologized as he walked Officer Morris to her car. "I could say they aren't always that bad, but...at least grandchildren didn't come up."

She grinned crookedly. "So I got off easy?" Instead of getting in, she turned and leaned on the car. "Don't you want a family, though?"

"Don't you think I've got enough?"

She laughed and kicked Charlie's sneaker to get him to look up. His eyes went wide when she stepped close, licking her bottom lip as she slid her hand up his arm. She leaned in and pressed her mouth to his. He froze, so she pulled back and mugged at him in mock-exasperation, patiently taking his arm and putting it around her waist. He chuckled, and the tension drained away. He captured her lips softly, with a little heat. She hummed in appreciation when he slipped his other arm around her, and again when the tip of his tongue brushed hers. "Someday," she murmured between kisses, "You might--"

The front door opened behind them. "Sorry!" Alan called, shutting it.

Charlie groaned. "I might want to disappear."

She turned to the car, gesturing for him to get in. "Done."

Post Script
I dedicate this drabble to my slash wives. To [info]asemic for enabling all of my obsessions in truly delightful fashion, and to [info]emmademarais for working tirelessly to encourage, destress, unblock, and inspire me. And for Alpha, beta, and gamma reading. Oh, and also for making me choke and spit water in my lap in lieu of the keyboard. <3

YAY! It's UP! /twirls you/

One of these days we'll have to post an excerpt from our IM chat so people can see how much fun we have. /grins/

I adore this drabble. It's a great rare het pairing and it's such playful good fun. I like Charlie like this and hope someday you'll write these two again.

Or maybe pair her with Billy. /waits for brain to go splodey/

I'm proud and happy for you and all aglow at my dedication.

/smooches you and blows a kiss to Ley/

Brava cherie!

Re: Post Script
I couldn't have done it without you. /smooches back/

I am kind of brewing a sequel.

Heheheh well if *Both* my wives want to see what happens to me when CC and Max get together, I might have to brave it. Just don't blame me when I spontaneously combust.

Very nice. I've always liked Christina Cox and she and Charlie had some good chemistry going in Manhunt.
melissima: Christina All I need[info]melissima on September 3rd, 2007 02:15 am (UTC)
Thank you! I was floored when I realized that was her. They did have good chemistry!

I didn't really know her until she did 'Blood Ties', but I've been watching a lot of her work lately, and I can't get enough of her. She mixes just enough humor with her beauty and toughness to stop me in my tracks every time.

I thought they had a nice chemistry, too - David Krumholtz seems always to have the best chemistry with men or with older women. Because as gorgeous as Christina Cox is, she's way older than she looks! She played Morgan the bank robber in two episodes of Due South, and those are from 1994-1995; she had to be in her mid-twenties then. I always liked that she was the ringleader of a bunch of guys. I enjoyed watching her get frustrated by everyone's ineptitude.
melissima: Kim HEE![info]melissima on September 3rd, 2007 03:16 am (UTC)
EEEeee!!! Er, um, Hi Nina, long-time-no-see. :D

I am DYING to get my hands on those episodes of DS. Chris as a villain might kill me. And I love it when she's frustrated.

I agree that DK has great chemistry with men or older women. I'm glad they cast CC at all, but I wish they'd done more with the character, somehow. Shame to waste such an interesting (not to mention drop-dead-smokin') actress.

You can get the first two seasons of dS from Best Buy for about $40 total - and they're well worth it for other reasons as well. The first two seasons (particularly the last half of the first and the first half of the second) are definitely among the best television I've seen. The show was created by Paul Haggis, who now has multiple Oscars, and David Shore (House) was a major writer. (The on-line fandom is dominated by fans of Callum Keith Rennie - a Canadian actor whom I find mostly boring, he's also Leoben on BSG - but he's only in the "rebooted" 3rd season that was cobbled together in order to get enough episodes for syndication; it's more comic booky and less soulful.)
melissima[info]melissima on September 3rd, 2007 07:22 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I actually had s1 here, (duh.) so I watched Free Willy this morning.

I really enjoy the show, so I'm going to pick up s2 next time I go to Best Buy.

"She shot me in the hat, Ray."

:-)

I do love the first two years of dS. Be sure and watch in order, though - there are some wonderful long arcs. The beginning is very good, but the 5th or 6th episode, "Pizza and Promises" is, I think, where it all starts to click. Fraser and Vecchio are my ideal parter OTP.
melissima: Christina from Riddick[info]melissima on September 3rd, 2007 09:14 pm (UTC)
They are fantastic together. I haven't seen "the other Ray," and I'm apparently missing the gene for the new BSG. Five episodes in I still couldn't keep the storyline straight.

But I definitely find Fraser and Vecchio entertaining. :) Having CC play a villain is just lovely icing.

I'd love to see her play a major villain--she's one of very few actresses I can buy as a hands-on badguy, mostly because the kind of person Hollywood is attracted to looks too fragile and thin to have that much gusto and energy.

Hee! I love this! I can just see her taking charge with Charlie and HA I adore it that Alan interrupts them! So cute, and (like a few others in these comments) I would LOVE to see more!
melissima: Kim HEE![info]melissima on September 3rd, 2007 04:32 am (UTC)
I'm so glad you liked it!!

Does it feel like Chris? I really want to capture the way she would have fleshed out this character, given the chance.

there will be more. I can't help it.
Walking Liability: rb| with all the dreams we had[info]asemic on September 3rd, 2007 04:25 pm (UTC)
Loved Alan in this. You know he would do that all the time to his boys. Terrible timing.
melissima: Kim HEE![info]melissima on September 3rd, 2007 05:27 pm (UTC)
He would have terrible timing. Comes from unconsciously worrying that Charlie will mess it up and miss his one chance.

I bet he used to do it to Don, too, but he wouldn't, now that Don's so smooth.

No worries, the *ahem* OTHER pairing is in the works too.
irena_adler: Charlie Resist[info]irena_adler on September 4th, 2007 12:28 am (UTC)
Yay, someone wrote this pairing! I thought they had such nice chemistry and it came through in your story. :)
melissima: Christina All I need[info]melissima on September 4th, 2007 12:44 am (UTC)
Gosh thanks! I really wanted to catch the way they were together. I enjoyed writing them so much, I think there will be a sequel.
DarkEly[info]elysium1996 on September 4th, 2007 02:33 am (UTC)
ohhh nice job, ah i love this pairing, can't wait for more Blood ties... and poor chuck!

Will you be watching the series True Blood based on Charliane Harris' Sookie Stackhouse Series?
melissima: Christina All I need[info]melissima on September 4th, 2007 02:47 am (UTC)
Thank you so much! :) I'm surprised and pleased at how many people like the pairing. And don't worry about Chuck. Officer Hottie thinks he's adorably sweet and plans to blow his genius mind. :P He'll forget all about his dad.

I will be watching True Blood. My daughter and I both love vampire books. :) Call it a guilty pleasure.

I am positively DROOLING for more BT. The only thing I'm anticipating as much is n3.
DarkEly: Skwee[info]elysium1996 on September 5th, 2007 02:55 am (UTC)
Cool! you can be my vampire show partner? please!

I will have to download the show by torrent or buy it since I do not get hbo but i so want to see True Blood !!!!

And I so can not wait for more blood ties, any word on if we are getting more?
melissima: Henry yummy by <lj user=scandalouslymoi>[info]melissima on September 5th, 2007 04:11 am (UTC)
I will definitely be your bloodsucker watchin' buddy.

We are getting the original 22 BT eps split into two "seasons," beginning again on Oct. 12 (Friday!) at 11Eastern.

I haven't heard any word about more than 22. AFAIK Lifetime is still considering it, but they had a hit with another new show "Army Wives" (like Teh Unit without the hot men, feh.)(like 4 or 5X as many households as any show on that network) and it seems likely they'll pour their money into that show instead.

Still, BT is generating healthy interest in Europe, so all isn't lost.

If you have time? WATCH THE EPISODES STREAMED FROM LIFETIMETV.ORG OR BUY FROM ITUNES. The network is watching the streaming numbers as part of decision making.
DarkEly: Coloring[info]elysium1996 on September 6th, 2007 06:22 pm (UTC)
ok cool!

Last night while we were chatting I was streaming Blood Ties (and I left it to runn all night... hee hee..)so I will strem it again even if I am not watching it...

and Ug for Army wives ! that show does nothing for me.....

on a fic note I decided who and what to write my slash ficathon about. it will be Don and Billy (I know i know like you all didn't know that) but the idea came to meet last night while I was getting ready for bed, so that is what I will go with. I was gonna try to write another pairing (maybe Colbyish...)but since I have a story to go with this pairing I will go with don and billy.

smooches!!!
perhaps some frottage is in order[info]sororcula on September 5th, 2007 06:18 am (UTC)
Hee, this is cute! Although, I don't know, I'm kind of sold on her as a lesbian now... LOL.
melissima: Kim Grrr...[info]melissima on September 5th, 2007 06:50 am (UTC)
She's just talented that way. (and HOT OMG)

I like s1 Charlie as a bottom--even in a het pairing. And lookie! TPTB just served me the perfect woman on a platter.
